Designed by Kelly was founded by Kelly Geer Ripken, mother of Rachel (18) and Ryan (14), and wife of baseball Hall of Famer Cal Ripken, Jr. 

She established Designed by Kelly as an outlet for her passion for interior design and creative gift giving.  In addition to leading the renovation and refurbishing of her own home, Kelly has spearheaded projects ranging from a lakeside home to an historical residence in the city. Kelly’s inventive mind has also enabled her to create and produce several large-scale themed events. 

She has collaborated with Catstudio on her latest venture, an embroidered pillow commemorating Cal’s career and induction into the National Baseball Hall of Fame.

An avid interest in media and communications led Kelly to pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from the University of Maryland.  She has utilized that background throughout the years, appearing in public service announcements, commercials, national television and radio programs, and print features in magazines and newspapers.  She has also served as spokesperson for a variety of non-profit and commercial ventures.

Kelly has championed numerous charitable endeavors, and has been active in promoting the importance of healthcare for all.  She partnered with Johns Hopkins Hospital to establish the “Kelly G. Ripken Program” for thyroid education, and recently joined members of Congress and healthcare industry leaders to kick off the “Results for Life” campaign in Washington, DC.

The Ripkens reside in Maryland, where Kelly continues her involvement with local charities and schools.  She manages an active household with her husband, children and three dogs.
